Alexander Nderitu is a poet, novelist, playwright and critic. He is the founder and editor-in-chief of TheAfricanGriot.com and the regional editor of TheTheatreTimes.com. His first book, When the Whirlwind Passes, was Africa’s first digital novel. He has since published fourteen other books, including The Moon Is Made of Green Cheese, Kiss, Commander, Promise, Disco Matanga and King Bure Is Dead! Some of his books have been translated into Arabic, Japanese, Chinese, Kiswahili, French, Swedish,Dholuo, Gikuyu and Czech. In 2017, Business Daily named him one of Kenya’s “Top 40 Men Under 40”. In 2023, he won a Jury Prize in the Sahitto International Literature Awards and a SEVHAGE-Agema Founders’ Prize for African Criticism.
The African Observatory of Publishing Professionals (OAPE AFRICA) is a pan-African non-profit organisation that brings together many players in the book value chain and carries out activities in several African and Caribbean countries. Founded in 2018, OAPE works to promote publishing, its players, professions and products. It also conducts studies, reflections and consultations on publishing in Africa. It supports book distribution initiatives and organises events in this field. The organisation publishes specialist publishing journals and encourages good publishing practice. OAPE also supports the training of book and publishing professionals.
